Poerdlebee: May 26, 2023

Ok, that’s a pretty blurry picture! It’s a very small part of a 16″ X 20″ painting, available to buy on my Etsy site. I have continued to play this silly brain stretcher I invented (“Poerdlebee”) pretty much every day (I have skipped a couple of days, but it is strangely addicting, haha!). In the future, I may try to limit myself to about 1/2 hour of actual play. This challenges me to work fast, AND keeps me from spending too much time on it! This morning I succeeded in meeting the challenge (29 minutes, woohoo!) and I’ll post that result tomorrow. I don’t want to spoil anyone’s Wordle for today, after all!

The basic process:

1) Do the daily NYT “Wordle”. Use at least one word from this list when you create your poem.
2) Get more related words by compiling at least a partial list of words that use the 7 letters ( with the mandatory central letter) of the daily NYT “Spelling Bee”–Come up least 15 words to setcompletely up a good list to use for your poem. Use as many words from this list as you can in your poem (you can repeat words). Feel free to use any other words you need, too.
3) Choose the picture prompt I will post (from paintings, or parts of paintings, I’ve done)–or just use any picture you want–but make it truly random–let it be unrelated to what the word list might suggest.
4) Using the picture as a completely fresh prompt and a reference, challenge yourself to create a poem of any length, or any sort, rhyming or not, using as many words from your lists as you can! The poem can be silly or profound. You may be surprised at what happens when the left and right sides of your brain start playing ping-pong with each other, so to speak!
5) There’s absolutely no such thing as failure! This is just exercising the brain…
6) Feel free to share the results with me. It would be fun to see what other people come up with šŸ™‚ šŸ™‚
