“Poerdlebee”: Play my brain-stretching, poem-making game with me, for free!

How to play:

1.) Do your daily “Wordle” and/or “Spelling Bee” game and you’ll thereby compile a treasure-list of related words, gathered by your own brain!

2.) AFTER you create your list, THEN ponder the visual painting prompt I post (here).

3.) Create your poem, basing it on the prompt, and using as many of the words on your word list as you can (without stress!).

4.) If you wish, send your poems in the comments, and I’ll try to post your poems beneath the prompt (keep ’em clean, please!). This assumes there are actually any participants, lol.

5.) If you want to support this silly brain-teaser, please tell your friends, and/or visit my Etsy site. (www.etsy.com/shop/stjudesquareartworks). Your visit helps my stats, and perhaps you’ll even find a small original artwork or print you’d like to buy! 🙂

Samples–Here are two poems with visual prompts I’ve done this month, using this game:

1.) Pixie In A Red Hat (May 9, 2023)

Not much more than a small child
With great big shoes to fill,
Stepping small to avoid a fall
Left by her lone in the wild…

Could use a friend with whom to stand
Afraid her foot will fail
Loneliness takes its toll
Oh, for one to hold her hand…

2.) The Soldier’s Wife (May 7, 2023)

Picnic in a basket in a natural nook,
On a blanket sits a mother with
her baby, and a book.

In the shade of a tree near
a valley, overlooking
The Blue Ridge Mountains,
Baby babbles with his book, and

In their bower of flowers
There is peace, for an hour.

Blue sky with clouds mounded
high, white and gray;
Bird calling bird in a free, loud way;
Baby drinks his bottle till his belly’s all fed;
Softly, sweetly, nods his head…

Mom marvels at her sleeper as
she fingers tender curls.
Fear at bay, sorrows allayed,
She contemplates a peaceful world.
