In times past, maybe that wasn’t possible, but now we have this thing called the internet… But what would I proclaim? What is the Gospel to me, that I might “proclaim” it authentically?
The Gospel, or Good News, is that God loves us. Like, ridiculously so. Not because we are just amazing, and oh so cute, and the pride of creation. Quite the opposite, really. He made us with the gift of freedom, and from the very beginning, we used our freedom to reject Him, bringing about the ugliness of death. We do it still, pretty much on an everyday basis. Just read the news on any morning, bright and fair…
This freedom, though, is what makes us able to do what God does: to love. We are made in His image and likeness, and we can love. It is the most wonderful thing we can do–it’s a participation in the inner life of our Creator.
No one can ever force love from you. It is always springs, like beautiful, life-giving water, from your heart. It is the fount of life that poured forth from the heart of Jesus, and brings life to the world.
